slushy to go

It is slushy. Enough said? Yes, well almost. It should be snowing, not raining, or sleeting or dripping. The sky is steel grey, the ground still frozen. The sun has moved in the sky and yet there is not a shadow and not a whisper of a breeze. It could be any time of day and only when the sun begins to go down for the night will I know until then, I am telling myself it is ten am.

The woods are dark. Dark because of the lack of sun and because the wood is saturated after the rains. I expect some light relief at the clearing. The clearing is one of the few places where there is a view of the distance. The sky looks big and the hills rolling. Today the sky and the fields are one. There is nothing to see here. I decide the painting studio is the best place to be today and head home.
